Burning blu-rays at 2x would probably be fine, but it's usually not a good idea to burn 8x-16x dvds in a new burner at 2x. I've heard issues that actually burning too slow will affect the quality of the backup the same as burning too fast. Half the rated speed of the disc will usually be fine. Setting dvds at a 2x burn speed is like going back to the year 2000, you don't really need to do that anymore.SPECS

Please post the pertinent logs, particularly the burn log from 1-2 of these bkups.

Look in your Documents and Setting for the DVDFab logs folder and post the logs.
Without more information / details it is a guessing game.

Don't try to "upload" the entire contents, just the logs from 1 or 2 flicks.
In particular, we need the burn logs.
Just copy and paste. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Well, you're getting there...
We need the burn log...that portion of the log that displays data about the actual burn process.
It will have your burner make/model & firmware, the media ID (MID), selected and actual burn speeds, errors encountered...well, you get the ideaIf it ain't broke, don't fix it!

If you google the media you are using you will find many derogatory remarks regarding the quality or rather the lack of quality .
In other words you need a better DL media.
You are also burning at max speed slow it down to 4X for this media.

As my good friend Gruñón advised, both your media and your burn speed are big problems.
You have other major hurdles...for one, your drive is in PIO mode.
1. You need to get your drive in UDMA mode
Click on the Reset DMA tab in Fab.
This probably will work. It's a quick and easy first step, but it doesn't always stick.
If not, there's always plan b...c...
2. Switch burn engines to Img. Even though the Ritek D01 media is crap and I agree wholeheartedly with Gruñón about switching media,
you have a better chance burning the D01's with Img.
Please click on the link in my sig on how to set up Img and Fab.
The link includes an excellent video tutorial.
3. Burn at 4X...maybe even 2.4X.
Post back with another burn log and let us know.
BTW, the only DL media we recommend is Verbatim +R DL, MIS (made in Singapore). You'll have to look on the spindle wrapper for the manufacturer's locale.
Both the 2.4X-4X media (MKM 001) and the 8X media (MKM 003) are superb.
//Edit
The Verbatim +R DL dvds made in India (MII) are still better than what you've got...Last edited by maineman; 10-08-2010, 08:09 PM.If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
