Getting late for me now, will check in the morning on this thread
Ok, I'm at work right now so I can't post the screen capture I made last night of trying the "unlockIt" software mentioned in the post you referred me to CBR929. I see where you are going and it was a promising lead but unfortunately the second program just flat doesn't seem to work. If it did what it said it would, it would be a wonderful tool for Win2K. Not only for diagnosing my issue but for resolving those times when 2K doesn't want to let go of a removable storage drive. I very well could be trying to use it for something it was not intended for (i.e. drives vs files ) but regardless I'm more than a little leary of the program (wanted to install Bing toolbar among other crap). I will tonight, when I get home, try the first program that post mentioned and see if I have any luck.

is caused by your drive is refusing to over burn, and also something still may be using your drive.
If something had a hold of my drive besides DVDFab then why would v7 still continue to work and v8 not work?

The only thing I have funcky on these drives is autoplay turned off through msconfig

They are refering to the IDE cable's position on the motherbard and not the Drives position on the IDE Cable correct?
This is what is "stupid" about these instructions, if you only have 1 IDE cable and your drive and hard drive are on it, how are you supposed to do that....Duh how is your computer supposed to run with no hard drive connected these instructions kill me.....

This is a little jumper on the back of the drive see pic

    No see pic

    Hi Yoder

Yes, please do as AGJ suggested with the AWS.
Also the W 18:32:35 DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed! - Reason: Access is denied.
    W 18:32:35 DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_DISMOUNT_VOLUME) Failed! - Reason: Access is denied
is caused by your drive is refusing to over burn, and also something still may be using your drive.

Your drives also have a firmware update you will find it here

NOTE: If you do not know how to flash your drive do not do it, it will render your drives useless

I also have an LG drive (GH22NP20) love it bought as OEM drive but was able to flash it to the same firmware as yours.

Yes, I also wish I could get a hold of older computers to help trouble shoot

That would be alot of work and I won't ask you to do that.
I think the symtom is the same as in Gator295's thread ( ) but that dosen't mean the cause is the same. We are both running 2000 but I don't know what else our systems have in common.

The process with 7 completed and I got a screen capture of ImgBurn for you.

The two lines I referenced in the earlier post are still the same as you will see in the attached image. Perhaps I set the AWS incorrectly but I followed the guide here in teh forums when setting it.

I'm almost tempted to ask my brother for his Win2K computer and give DVDFab a try. The reason I have not done that yet is it would be more a hassle cleaning the computer up as he has a lot of useless junk installed and never had a anti-virus program installed as well so would be a lot of cleaning to do on it.

Thanks for reading and offering up advice AGJ,
I have a DVD going after making the changes to AWS settings in ImgBurn. I'll edit if I still can after half an hour or reply with both logs for a working run with v7.
I still can not get v8 to load a DVD. It will successfully analyze Video_TS files. I just tried opening a ISO image file created with DVDSrink (takes you back huh) and v8 displayed the same behavior as when loading a DVD.
    strange
