"Open DVD source: " won't complete

The system I am refering to no longer has any version of DVDFab on it:
I uninstalled them individually, I deleted all the files from the program files folder and ran CC cleaner on it repeatedly until it came back no errors, restarted, then started looking for VSO which lead me to the 5 pcouffin that now remain on that system.
My other rig does have the VSO exactly where you stated in the device manager. Sorry I should have checked there too. But I was only starting to screw with just one of them as a test, the one I was refering to in Post 49 and on. I've decided to leave one system alone (it has more programs on it to replace if my screwing around with the other rig results in re-installing the OS )

So about those 5 pcouffin files and the setup file...

I removed the 5 files , re-installed v8 (with VSO unchecked) and was right back where I started...
I then re-installed v7 and it works fine....

VSO was/is the only software I know of that used patin-couffin driver.
You will do no harm to your system by deleting all instances of it.
Doing this can only help. As a matter of fact, VSO tech support recommends unistalling p-c when experiencing problems.
You can always reinstall it
Regardless, VSO now uses SPTI for its access layer and not p-c.

If this were my rig, I'd definitely dump p-c driver.
I've seen p-c cause trouble for users over the years...not that often, but it happens

CBR929's suggestion that p-c will be installed with an installation of Fab is right on.
You may want to avoid this installation however, depending on what happens and how you wish to proceed.
Simply opt out of the VSO installation (untick the box) when installing Fab.

Deleting the 5 pcouffin files and the setup files, may or may not help your problem
You have to remember that what ever software put those drivers on your system may no longer work after deleting them.
I am pretty sure that Fab will reinstall the VSO engine along with the pcouffin drivers, but will the other software work upon reinstall ...I don't know

Didn't see anyhting there even with show hidden devices enabled...

I did find several files for pcouffin: security catalog , setup information, text file, and system file under C:\documents and settings\user name\application data and another system file in C:\WINNNT\system32\drivers.

I am thinking they are in device manager, thats where mine is , it is the pcouffin device.

Since you installed the VSO burn engine you need to delete that as well from computer when you remove DVDFab. The Uninstaller for DVDFab does not remove the VSO burn engine.

The VSO is the burn engine and any thing is possible. You still have a corrupt install of Fab and I think unless everything is deleted and a fresh install you are going to have nothing but troubles.

Another thing I had asked gator295 to try was to download and run Revo Uninstaller, select the advanced uninstall and delete all registry and leftover files.

The reason that I had asked for your logs is that when Fab reads the disc, gets the drive, volume label,and on the Th line after volume label should be Path Player information. Yours and gator295s logs do not contain path player information and it seams that Fab is going back and detecting drives and getting information again I have looked at my logs and also members logs, and all of them the Th line after the volume label is the "Path Player Information"

Hi Yoder
If you could post your Fab internal logs there is something missing in yours and member gator295 logs
Also check your path player settings
Open Fab Click the Green √ top right > Protection > Path Player make sure it is set to Always Enable if not click Always Enable click OK restart Fab and try again.
