Need Help on My Procedure for Backing Up DVDs to External Hard Drive....ISO??

Im using DvdFab to backup my DVD collection to my external hard drive to play on media streamer such as Dune or Asus O!Play.

I thought I had everything figured out but now I have a new question before I get too far on this.

    My procedure has been this:

DVD into my computer drive with External Drive hooked up.
I then use DVD to DVD Full Disc. I use my external hard drive as the target.
After I backup the movie the title is under a Main Movie folder. I rename the folder to the movie title. They work fine when I do the playback on my Dune or Asus. These appear as Audio TS and Video TS files.

Ok so here is my question. I just notice in one of the guides here that if you click the Icon on the far right on the DvdFab source and Target line that it will create a ISO file. I thought that was what I was doing but apparently these are different??

So for what I am doing should I be using the ISO button when I do backups???

An .ISO is simply a container. It contains the very same .IFO, .VOB and .BUP files as the folders.
It is a matter of preference, how you choose to manipulate files and your playback device.

So, the if the folders you currently have are working just fine, then you're all set.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

But--- if you look in the Main Movie folder you will see a folder that contains the movie with the name of the movie.

Move the movie folder out of the Main Movie folder into the hard drive under its own name.

Or uncheck the create folder in general setting and you will not have the Main Move folder. Only the movie folder including the name.

I was wondering how to do the menus the right way on the hard drive. So what you are saying the movies dont have to be inside of another folder to function the right way? What you are saying is to get rid of the folder "Main Movie" that I have been renaming?

Im also doing TV Season/Episodes which I guess that Main Movie folder is alright because I just rename it as an example "The_Shield_S1" and then all the Episodes are inside of this folder.

        Thanks for the help

I am confused as to why you have a Main Movie folder when ripping TV series disc.
Are you ripping each episode separately?

Having ripped 38 years of TV series I have either a Full Disc folder or a Customize folder, never a Main Movie folder with episode disc.
I move all movie folders into the hard drive. It only takes a few seconds.

Either way there is no need to rename the Main/Full/customize folder unless you intend to leave the movie folders in them.

Only you know what works best for you so try different methods to see how it works.

If it ain't broke you can still tinker with it.

Yes you are right it works.

As far as the TV Series DVDs I have had to have a folder for each Season that is what I meant.
