    Which is better? Full Disc Copy or Main Movie?

    Haven't tried "Main Movie" yet but it looks like I could get better quality out of Main Movie. I used Full Copy w/ImageBurn and it worked great, however it was somewhat pixelated when played back. Not interested in bonus material so thought Main Movie might be what I was looking for.

    Yup, looks like you answered your own question.
    Without details, it's hard to give you specific advice, but
    less compression is always "better".

    Of course, this doesn't mean compressing is "bad".
    Most of us don't compress below 80%, but this is not a hard and fast rule.
    There are many variables that come into play, not the least of which is the original bitrate of the source content.

      The pixels could be caused by using low quality media or burning too fast.
      Maybe both.

      No way of knowing without more information.

        Also you can try de-selecting some audio stream that you dont need and the extras that you dont want

          Ok thanks. I am new to DVDFab so I didn't really see the options in "Full Disc" like I do in DVDShrink to cut out audio, etc. Making a back-up of Toy Soty 3 for my daughter but didn't want the extras. Using ImgBurn as a burner set on 12X. May play with it some more, bring the speed down or see if I can cut out the audio and extras in full disc mode.

            Hey Mike,

            Post a burn log or 2 and we can fine tune our advice

            The default location is:

            For Win7

              I ended up trying "Main Movie". When I do "Full Copy" my video quality goes down to 53 %. When I tried "Customize" I wasn't sure which channel to use since it gave me 3 channels on 20 that were all the same length. So the easiest thing to do was select Main Movie. That copied at 93 % quality.

              I noticed ImgBurn still burned at "Max" even though I selected 10X. The movie does work but I only watched the first 5 min to make sure it copied.

                CMC media is crap. Please switch to Verbatim +R...be certain to check for the AZO Dye logo on the spindle wrapper.
                Unfortunately, even Verbatim has some marginal stuff out there.
                You can also use Taiyo Yuden, but you'll have to order from an online retailer.

                Yeah, I caught the burn speed snafu.
                It's too fast for the CMC crap for sure.
                You can try a slower speed , maybe 4X, but do yourself a favor and buy some quality blank media. If you look for the sales, good SL media is pretty cheap.

                and set up the Auto Write Speed option in Img.
                There's a video and wriiten guide as to how to set it up.
                Once you do this, Img will remember the specific MID , burner and speed so you'll never have to choose again...
                that is, unless you add an unknown media or new burner.

                53% is way over-compressed.

                  Just depends if you want to copy all that's on the original DVD or not. Myself, I'm not in the least interested in doing that as the only thing I want is the movie. I get rid of all subs I don't need, all sound tracks I don't need (like Director's comments, foreign language). If I want the least compression I even get rid of beginning and ending credits. I pop it in, the movie plays, end of story. Some want all that other stuff so it just depends on the individual. There is no one size fits all. It's your DVD copy, make it the way you want.

                    Ok, I will play around with it. I seem to remember seeing Verbatim at Best Buy but it might be the cheap ones you're talking about. I'll have to check again. However, if I copy it again it would make 3 or 4 copies of Toy Story 3 back-ups that are junk discs.

                    The Main Movie that I copied seems to work well. Again, I haven't had time to watch it and I am going to make my 9 year old daughter watch that version first and if there are any mess ups she will let me know.

                    Quality is pretty good. Not as good as the original, but pretty darn good for a cheap Memorex DVD+R. Again, I will look for the Verbatims. WalMart only carries Memorex and nothing else.

                    I had been using DVDshrink for sometime but it seems that some latest DVD's will not back-up. Thanks for all the help

                            Sony/Maxell/Memorex/TDK out source to 3rd party companies to make their media and will have not so good dye used that in about 6 months will not work in DVD Player any more.

                            If you are able to get Sony media with a Sony Media ID then they are #3 for blank media. Same goes for Maxell if you can find them with a Maxell Media ID.

                            Taiyo Yuden are #1 and the best to be using
