DVDfab ver. 8.0.3.2 will not open

Hi: I am having trouble with DVDfab ver. 8.0.3.2. When I updated from an earlier version to DVDfab ver. 8.0.3.2. DVDfab would not load. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success.

Since DVDfab doesn't clean up after it's self very well I decided to clean up windows and the registry. I searched for all occurrences of DVDfab with windows search and deleted them. I searched the registry for DVDfab and deleted them. I bought DVDfab Platinum a long time ago and there were many old entries for DVDfab 5, 6, 7 and 8.

So I reinstalled DVDfab ver. 8.0.3.2. and it still will not load. It seems to install OK but when I try to open it I get this message:

"DVDFab is the all-in-one software package for copying B
has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience."

I searched for DVDFab logs and there are none.
I looked in Windows Event Monitor and found this:
"Faulting application dvdfab.exe, version 8.0.3.2, faulting module , version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000."

I have DVDfab ver. 8.0.3.2 running on 3 other computers and it seems to run OK. Two computers are Win7 64bit and one is Win XP SP3.

What should I do?

I still can't get 8.0.3.2 to open.
Customer Support supplyed these steps:

Please uninstall DVDFab8 completely again. You can uninstall DVDFab with the uninstall program. Then open My Computer and go to c:\Program Files (OR) wherever you installed DVDFab, delete the "DVDFab" folder. Open "c:\WINDOWS \ PREFETCH" clean all the relevant ".pf " files with DVDFab.

Restart computer and check if there are some related files left, if does, please delete them.

Please follow these steps to clean up registris of DVDFab manually:

Go to Start menu> click Start > click on "Run"> type "regedit", click on OK > open the Registry Editor> locate and delete the following registry entries: Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DVDFab(delete the folder).

Please also download and install Regcleaner at to get rid of those registry entries created by DVDFab.

After all that clean procedure, please install the latest version 8.0.3.2 of DVDFab at on another hard drive to see the result.

I followed these steps to the letter even though I had done all of this stuff several times already. DVDFab still wouldn't load.
I started looking for program conflicts.
DVDFab won't open in Normal Mode or Diagnostic Mode but it will open and run in Safe Mode. I Ran it in Safe Mode and copied a DVD and everything worked. The only difference between Diagnostic Mode and Safe Mode, as far as I know is that Safe Mode only uses the basic device drivers. I opened Device Manager in Safe Mode and it was blank. DVDFab 7 worked fine on this computer with the same drivers.
Any Ideas?

Hi mars1952,

Please uninstall and reinstall your DVD drive and make sure it is with the latest firmware. Then run DVDFab in Normal Mode to see the result.

And please note that if you bought the Single-User License and had installed it on two machines, you can not use it any more. Because the Single-User License just can be used on two machines which is a formal userifo.

Event viewer exception states DVDFAB.exe is Faulting Module and Fault Address is 0x00785db4.
Tried all the tips above: Fully removing DVDFAB including using RegCleaner.
Tried re-installing my DVD drive.

Please D/L and install Imgburn (a freebie).

When you first open the program, the top screen will have an options category. Click on that and look for the 'Driver Load Order' option and click on that, too.

Please copy and paste (or get a screen shot of) that info to your next post here. It may tell us what the problem is.

I tried uninstalling DVDFab 8.0.5.6 and
re-installing on my I: drive which is formatted as NTFS
but still will not open.

Look at the DVDFab requirements.
Says 512 MB of memory
and I'm only running 320 MB.
Could it be that it can't get DVDFab loaded?

That's a possibility, but I have another suspect in mind...

What Anti-Virus program are you running??

P.S. The drivers PXHELP20 and AFS2K look suspicious - and I suspect they're not doing much on your system... try removing them and see if that makes a difference... any programs you use that do make use of those drivers won't work after they're out, but if Fab works after they're gone, you may not need them anyways.

PXHELP20 is fine as it installed by Windows Media Center on XP if you used it to burn a DVD as well it can be removed without causing any problems but AFS2K needs to be removed as it causes problems with programs like DVDFab

Tried dropping AFS2k

Renamed it and re-booted but none of my media drives were recognized anymore. They didn't show up in Windows Explorer and ImgBurn said no drives found. So I re-named it back to get functionality back.
If AFS2k is my problem, this makes it more challenging.
