DVDCopy Failure

Hi -

I tried to copy a DVD (DVD Copy -> Full Disc) and received the following error message box:

Reading/Writing Error Control!
[Drive Path]
Error while reading! Please choose what to do?

And I have the option to Retry, Abort, Ignore or Ignore all. This appears after the disc analysis and early in the Copy process started phase.

I've selected each option and none worked. I also took the disc out and cleaned it. That didn't work either.

What is the name of the movie?
Is Pathplayer enabled or disabled?
Have you tried Movie only?

  Movie title is "In The Shadow of the Moon"
  Pathplayer is enabled
  

Tried Full Disc again (to get the log). That log is attached as "FULL DISC."

Then tried Main Movie; same result. That log is attached as "MAIN MOVIE."

Update to V 8032



Try with Pathplayer enabled and if no go try with Pathplayer disabled.

OK. Downloaded and installed the update, and tried with Pathplayer enabled and disabled (logs attached). No luck.

It may be a defective disk.
If you do not already have it download DVDFab Passkey.

Also nero cd/dvd speed........

Open passkey and then use cddvd speed to run an error scan on the source disk.

Downloaded and installed Passkey, then ran Nero DiscSpeed. Failed twice with this message: "Error! - SCSI status 0"

That is the transfer rate test.
What did the scan for errors show.?
Click on Scan disc at the right of the options.

Either way it is not looking good for the source disk.
Can you exchange it for another.

If you have another DVD drive give it a try as the one you are using is a MATSHITADVD-RAM and they are the worse to use. They do not like DVD Copy programs that remove copy protection but like Gruñón mentioned it kinda looks like a bad disc

Well, The Hulk copied fine, but thanks for the advice on the drive. Of course, it came in my Toshiba Satellite. Any recommendations for the better drives to look for when I buy a new laptop in a year or so?

All laptop slimline drive create a lot of heat.
Consider the purchase of an external USB drive you will have more success and your laptop will run cooler.
