problem backing up dvd

hi guys
could do with a bit help
i am trying to back up a dvd, however in my computer the size of disc is 6.41gb.
but if i open the disc it now says disc size is 54.8gb ?
how could this be, is this a new protection on the disc
any help

The default location is:

For Win7
C:\Users\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log
or for XP
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

I forgot to mention...
If you have difficulty ripping, altering the PathPlayer settings is always one of the first things to try, ie., disable or enable...usually the former
