Are you trying make a full copy? I had problem with full copy, I did "Main Movie" before the update came out and it worked perfectly.

Worked fine for me with 8.0.0.5 with PP ALWAYS ENABLED. If some of you would read some threads then you can figure it out from them ..hint hint. Not to dissrespect.

Ok, people have to understand that this movie, "Disney's A Christmas Carol", is Disney's most recent disc mess up. They basically manufacture them the worst they possibly can. And since DVDFab and other ripping programs need to read the whole content of the disc, sector by sector, and standalone players are more error-tolerant and can skip over bad sectors, this makes it so they will play fine, but will not rip for nothing. That's why you see people ripping them with no problem and others having a bad time. And Disney obviously will have no problem whatsoever making discs this way. They will be perfectly happy if people can only watch their discs and not rip them.
So I guess my advice would be either to take the disc back and keep doing it until you get a good disc, or try to rip the disc on multiple DVD drives, as some drives are more error-tolerant than others. Good luck.

I found out that it looks like I have a different problem with Christmas Carol. I thought I all so could not backup the regular disc of Christmas Carol. I tryed playing the purchased regular dvd on m tvs dvd player. It is a samsung 2550. The disc would not play onit. I tryed useing a several year old regular dvd player and the disc still will not play onit. I then took the dvd disc over to my neighbors who has a regular player not a blu ray dvd player, and the darn disk played fine on there tv. I've never had playing problems with my samsung 2550 blu ray player before. It plays both the blu ray and regular disc fine. Untill this disney disk. I'm not sending the disc pack back. I just don't understand why my player won't play this disc. The blu ray disc plays fine on my samsung 2550. I know samsung will not have any more upgrades for my 2550 for a fix unless it is a wide spread problem.

Any hardware recommendations for a more-error tolerant DVD drive?

There are quite few good readers out there.
LiteOn, typically make great readers, but like any brand, not all models perform well.

Before plunging more $ down, have a read through my list of tips:

Be certain to clean the disc as described.
You also might want to give #5 a shot.
These steps will sort of "force" tolerance
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

You know how to whistle, don't you, Steve? You just put your lips together and... blow. | Lauren Bacall | "To Have and Have Not" (1944).
