    please help..problem with burn

I have been trying to copy the Insanity DVDs by beachbody and am having problems. I was able to copy other DVD's from beachbody so I didn't think I would have a problem. I did do the update, so I wasn't sure if I need to change something as far as settings.
The copy process is taking about an hour...and it only usually takes a few min. I have had a few different error messages. All for the same DVD..please help.
    it's one 40 min DVD I am copying, on sony DVD + R 120 min 4.7GB 1X-16X

please insert double layer media to start write...this error message is once the copy process is finished and i put in my blank DVD.

Make sure that you have the disc size set to DVD5. It looks like you have it set to DVD9. As it is asking for a DVD9.

You cabn ether change it each time on the bottom middle of the Fab window or go into settings and change the default.

If this does not solve the issue, set pathplayer off if on and on if off.

    Hope this helps.

thanks..i will try that. i did change it to DVD9 when it didn't work the first time thinking maybe that would help. i have about 10 min left on this attempt. ill check the log and see if the error is the same, i did change it back to dvd5 this time, but haven't touched the pathplayer yet
when i copy what should the Target be?

The target should be your DVD Writer.

Please star a thread of you own instead of hijacking someone elses and provide more details so that we can assist you.

Go to the "Help Us Help You: DVD to DVD" link in my signature below to see what detail you need to provide.

              I still can't burn...please help

ok still having a burn problem, I've changed the pathplayer and made sure I am on DVD5. I've never had a problem like this but I have noticed since I did the upgrade my target reads : (HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GSA-H30L S856 (scsi)
I don't think this is what it said before and the other option for the target is a folder.

It is taking about an hour to copy and it usually takes only a few min, then when I put my blank disk in it says task failed error 105
I know these disks are large enough so if anyone could help it would be appriciated. I'm not fluent in all this computer talk..so go easy on me

                  Hi tonynannmarie,

I'm merging your threads since the new one is a continuation of your problem. This way it's much easier members to follow...

                  Is this an hp desktop?
I looked around a bit and it seems that this particular burner has issues and hp has been (maybe still is ?) offering replacements.

You might look into this before you lose more of your hair.
Your burner info hasn't changed in the logs. The burner probably is connected to a Fibre channel connector on your motherboard, but it is configured as an IDE drive.
I don't know beans about 'em except they seem to cause more problems than other interfaces.

Despite the changes you made, the file,

                  2009-11-02 22:03:31 Info Scanned files #51, folder #2 - total size 9519808512 b. (8.87 Gb.)

is way too big to fit on a dvd5 disc.

                  Please try this:
Rip the disc to your hdd (choose your hard drive as the Target).
Just choose a location that'll be easy for you to find....like your desktop.

Be certain to compress it to a dvd 5.
Subsequent to the rip, what is the actual file size on the hdd?
Will it play ok when viewed from the hdd with a software player like VLC?.

I would also recommend that you download and install Img and use it as your burn engine. VSO has caused many issues for many users.
Img is free, very reliable, very configurable and well supported.
You have some entries in your logs that are troublesome...like this parsing business that shouldn't be there.
                  I would definitely dump VSO

Also take a look at Troy512's video on set up with Fab and Img.
Really a great video...plain and simple.

and yes it's an hp desktop

also, how is it too big? it's only a 40 min dvd and i have always used these disks to copy full movies on. sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm not very good at this kind of thing. i loved dvdfab because it has been so easy for me to use up until now.

                        Your welcome.

It's too large based on the info in your burn log:

2009-11-02 16:43:08 Error INIT ERROR: The inserted disc is too small. Suitable disc(s) for 8.87 Gb.: blu ray R, blu ray RW
                        2009-11-02 16:43:08 Info Scanned files #51, folder #2 - total size 9519808512 b. (8.87 Gb.)

According to this, it's even too large for DL media without compressing.
                        This doesn't make any sense.

I can't tell if this is a transcoding error, miscalculation on the part of the software, etc., etc.

Post back with the info and we'll go from there.

Definitely give Img a whirl....you'll like it and you just might find your problems will vanish...
I'd seriously make some noise to hp and look into trying to get a replacement.
When did you purchse your desktop?

when i copy what should the Target be?
I not sure I am correct, but should you be trying to copy a disk and be using other applications (like the web)? I always reboot and make sure nothing is running in the background. Is still true with Dual Core?
