BD Ripper (3D Plus) MKV File Size

Hey guys/gals... quick question. Ripped a BD over the weekend and with my video settings i compressed it to about 2/3 of it's original size (that is with audiocopy of DTS-HD audio track). Did the same to a pixar animated film, used nearly the same video settings and it compressed to about 1/4 of it's original size. Is it normal for animated films to get such better compression?

That always depends on the content to be compressed - similar to JPG images. Large areas containing similar colors could be easily compressed with virtually no loss of quality. Overall compression is much better in that case.

An animated film tends to use more of those areas than a standard real-life movie. You'll even notice a size difference between movies containing only slow moving images and fast-paced action movies.
