So my bro-in-law is about to convert his whole DVD library to be able to play on Apple TV. In helping him figure out the best settings for this, I've done some experimenting and can't figure out what to try next.
In converting a 45 min TV show, I used the standard Apple TV profile but bumped up the bitrate to 2500 and upped the audio bitrate to 160. The output looks OK, but in shots where the camera pans slowly left to right (for example) the video sort of "stutters"--it's not smooth.
I tried converting the same thing to an avi (using the xvid profile) and the output is smooth, as expected. (Though this wasn't the case before 8.0.6)
Any suggestions?
