DVD Ripper Audio AND Video sync issues

I've been searching through the forums for a while and maybe simply cannot nail down the resolution but... I've come across what seems like another issue: I tried to RIP Remona and Beezus (no kid jokes please...) anyways When playing this on WMC the video played in "fastforward" while the audio was OK. THen I tried to play this in VLC and the video played at the correct speed but there was no audio at all. Then I tried again playing this in XMBC and the video played at the correct speed as did the audio - BUT there was almost a 3-5 second audio lag.

All of this was on the same machine - how can all these be SOOOO different?

Ripped using version: 8.0.5.6
Ripped to AVI
Framerate and Audio Channel are both "same as source"
