DVD Ripper DVDFab is wrong on resolution for option

So I have this whole thread w/other issues on my i7 computer http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=10563 but now I have encountered a new problem. I thought maybe some these older dvds were poor quality compared to the new ones, but I tested one...my i7 computer w/dvdfab (no matter the version, 7-8.0.6.6) puts a max resolution on generic->avi->xvid->audiocopy at 600 width. When I insert the dvd into my core2duo computer dvdfab allows for a 848 wide as an option. Hoping if I start a new thread, a developer might chime in...thoughts?

Scratch that...I had set avi xvid audiocopy as the default. But when I reselected the option from the dropdown the other resolutions came back into play.

That seems like a bug...obviously the resolution of different movies is going to change and shouldn't be held onto as part of the default settings. Just the fact that I selected the highest frame resolution available should be passed on. I wonder if this was what was causing all the dvds to fail in my other thread. Maybe the only ones that passed had some similar resolution in common. 600 wide seems a bit low for a dvd, so maybe a height was held onto and forced the small width on all following dvds. Trying my latest one that had success again with version 8, then I'll try my known failures and let you know. I'd definitely go ahead and mark this in the bug category though for a problem with default settings. Just so you know I was closing down dvdfab in between rips.

No luck w/version 8.0.6.6 on my i7. Again it just stopped making progress at 50%. I hadn't had any luck w/any of the variations of version 8 though. That's for a dvd that will successfully pass through on 7.0.9.3 on an i7.

No logs no help as you never posted any logs that you was asked for on your other thread as well.

Give this link a read http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=542 and post the info asked for in your next post reply to this thread. The forum staff might merge this one with other one later if it is same issue

Hmmm...a dvd that did successfully pass through on 7.0.9.3 just stopped making progress on pass 2 of avi xvid audiocopy when I set the resolution correctly. Weak.

Let me clear them...which version would you rather see? 7.0.9.3 or 8.0.6.6...before version 8.* was failing no matter what. Now a successful dvd that I picked a new res for is failing in 7.0.9.3. They just creep down to encoding 0 fps and no task time left while the percentage finished gets stuck and the task time elasped keeps on trucking. So I usually cancel out of them. Should I not and post what is in the log or go ahead and cancel and post what logs I have?

And sorry...as you can see in the other thread I asked where the logs were and posted what I option I was choosing...to which I just got a thank you. I now understand where the logs are. I'm going to go ahead and clear them out, try the latest version and I'll post them for you asap.

A little side note...at the end of that thread you'll see I was pleading for the developers to let me know what more information I could provide, to which I never got a response.

That happens now probably 2/5...it'll get between 0 and 51% on the second pass.

That's for a generic->avi (xvid audiocopy), 2 pass. I choose the highest frame res dvdfab presents...usually 848xsomething. Forced subtitles w/direct render is on. Audio and framerate i have set to same as source.

I think I'm going to start a new thread since neither title really addresses the issue. I'm going to go back on some of those 600 wide mess ups, but I'll mix the stack of known failures in to give you guys some info today. Let me know when one log becomes one too many. I have probably a dozen already.
