Other BD or DVD Ripper to MKV.remux

    Hello,
Apologies if this has been dealt with in another thread, but if so, couldn't find it. Also, I'm new to MKV ripping.
I tried both a bluray and dvd rip to MKV.remux (i don't want to fiddle with compression, and don't have a space limitation) and tried to play on both my Samsung's C5500 player and C6300 TV. Neither work and I get a message saying that the file is not supported. I'm streaming from a DLNA NAS box via gigabit hardwire.
When I check the manual for both devices, both say that they support .mkv and the codecs that I ripped the videos with. I attached a section from the BD player manual that shows the compatibility with file formats and codecs.
When I checked the BD MKV rip file in tsmuxer, it shows that the video is H.264 (profile 4.1), and the audio is 5.1 DTS.
I'd really like to play MKV's on the Samsungs, as I'm trying to migrate away from using the ps3 (which does not play mkv directly).
I know this is NOT a samsung board, but hoping some of the mkv gurus might have a suggestion.
    thank you,
    Tom

    First start with a DVD.

Instead of a remux, I would try a generic.mkv.h264.audiocopy encode at around 2000 bitrate choosing a Dolby Digital soundtrack and then attempt to play this via a direct connect USB.

I would also do a generic.xvid.audiocopy file and do the same.

Use this as a start point to debug the problem.

I'll point out that I had a similar experience with a Samsung TV and found that the player software that they use is less than ordinary, there are no regular updates/bug fixes and Samsung support were idiots. In the end I gave it away and just use dedicated Media Players that do the job properly.

I just use the samsung software to occasionally play pictures from digital cameras that the kids bring over or the occasional torrent that they bring.

Relegated to the backburner as a GDMFPOS!!!
