I have got to be the most inept user here!
I am using DVDFab 8.0.6.8 to rip my DVD's to mkv format. I store these on a Iomega Screenplay Director Plus.
After 10 hours (!!!!) I got Evolution to mkv, played it and had a FANTASTIC picture - but no sound.
Here are my settings:
Title(Angle) is the full 38 chapters
Of the two English settings, I took the default, AC-3/5.1 (the other is AC-3/2)
I did not select the English subpicture because I don't want the subtitles.
My profile is mkv.default:
Output type: Audio+Video
Encoding method: High quality encoding (2-pass)
Fixed Rate: 2000 kbps
Split: No split
Framerate: Same as source
Deinterlacing is checked
Audio Format:aac
Bitrate (I take the default here, which comes up as 448 kbps)
Channel (Again, the default, 5.1 Multichannel)
Volume: 199%
I leave the Frame Resolution alone.
Subpicture is Direct render to video (that is, it doesn't create the separate idx and sub files).
===================
When the rip is completed, it plays on my PC just fine - sound is crystal clear. But when I get it to the Iomega, no sound. (The TV is a LG 40" LCD which plays the ISO files just great.)
What do I do now?
