Apologies for the long post - I am trying to re-create a [other software]-like profile within DVDFab. The reason for this is that the MKV conversion by [other software] seems to be much better quality than that done by DVDFab. However, DVDFab has the ability to burn in any subtitles and can handle forced subtitles. (I know there is a very long way of doing this with [other software] involving merging idx files etc, but want a much quicker work flow) And that is where DVDFab comes in coz I like it much more and all the other modules are superb.
After a lot of playing around, the settings I use in [other software] are the High Profile, with a few tweaks:
Ref Frames – 4
Max B Frames – 3
Cabac – Enabled
8x8 transform – Enabled
Weighted B Frame – Enabled
Pyramid B Frames – Enabled
No DCT Decimate – Disabled
RC Look Ahead – 50
Adaptive B Frames – Optimal
Adaptive Direct Mode – Spatial
Motion Estimation Mode – Uneven Multi Hex
Subpixel ME & Mode – 8
Motion Estimation Range – 64
Trellis – Enabled
Partition Type – Most
Deblocking – 0
Adaptive Quantization Strength – 0
Psychovisual Rate – 1.0
Psychovisual Trellis – 1.0
Constant Quality – RF19
I know that I can edit the profiles – in the case of the MKV profile it is the one called “x264_ABR_Fast”
But I can’t find all the settings above in the list, or they are called something else in DVDFab
So can anyone please point me to which of the settings in the profile refer to the above Handbrake settings so that I can keep using FAB to its full.
Some I think I know:
<Trellis>true</Trellis> must mean Trellis Enabled?
<NbRefFrames>4</NbRefFrames> must mean Ref Frames 4?
<SubPelRefinment>8</SubPelRefinement> is this the same as subpixel ME & Mode 8?
<METype>1<METype> this must be Motion Estimation Mode – but what number is Uneven Multi Hex?
<MERange>64</MERange> must mean Motion Estimation Range 64?
<Deblock>false</Deblock> must mean Deblocking 0?
<Cabac>true</Cabac> must mean Cabac Enabled?
<WeightedBPrediction>true</WeightedBPrediction> must mean Weighted B Frame Enabled?
<BFramePyramid>true</BframePyramid> is this Pyramid B Frames Enabled?
<LookAhead>50</LookAhead> must mean RC Look Ahead 50?
But the missing ones that I don’t know which they are:
