just wondering how everyone rates the quality of the mkv movies they do vs the movie straight of the disk.

it depends on the settings u make.
if u remux to mkv only, u have a lossless copy. u only switch from an m2ts transport stream to an mkv container, but keeping bitrate and quality 1:1.
if u convert to h264.mkv with a constant bitrate @ 15mBit, and using 2pass mode, i would rate to output file 9of10.
i convert all my movies this way to watch on a fullhd beamer and its hard to see any differences at all. so most people with a common 42" Screen wont see a difference to the source file....
