DVD Ripper audio out of sync for dvd's but blu ray works fine

I ripped a good portion of my library to find that my audio is out of sync on all of the dvd titles. all the blu ray titles are fine. i am ripping with "software" for all 3 codec settings, using the latest version of dvdfab. dvd's and blu rays are already on harddrive in my media center so ripping from folder structure.

it used to work fine, now i can't rip the dvd's without audio sync problems.

    please help.

btw, i'm converting to default ipad format in both dvd and blu ray

        Hi uslaves
Download Media Info here http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en and check the frame rate of the original source folders that you have ripped to your hard drive media center, when converting make sure to select the same frame rate as the original source, click the edit button near the bottom and in the drop down box select the frame rate.

I have tested this to where leaving same as source Fab is choosing 23.976 when the correct frame rate is 29.970 and the sync is off.
        Hope this helps

I have to say I'm having similar experiences here. I used to have very few sync issues on DVD, but problems with Blu-Ray. Now on the latest release I'm having better luck with Blu-Rays and my DVD success rate with lip-synch is poor.

I too am doing a mass archive to my media server, but fortunately check each one before moving on. My hit rate today has been only 1 out of 4 converting correctly. Just checked the last one with MediaInfo, and if I'm looking at it correctly both original and output were 25fps. So I don't think that's it.

Unless I've been very unlucky and just hit a batch of tricky discs I'd say perhaps a tweak in recent releases may have compromised something.

I've got 3 titles I definitely know didn't work to hand. Let me know what info you want.

A further note, I noticed on another thread someone had spotted the problems occurred after 8.0.7.3. I've reverted to 8.0.7.3 and the 3 failures worked with perfect lip sync without any effort to change anything.

thank you both. i'd rather not fiddle with the bitrates but thanks for the suggestion (nice bike btw) the reason i paid money for dvdfab was for simplicity - otherwise i would just use one of the free rippers out there. but again thanks for the suggestion

here is an odd one for you. i reverted to a 7. something version that i had and the sync problem is still there - which i say is very odd because i have old rips that i used this version for that play fine i.e., it worked fine before but now with the same input file it has audio sync problems.

i see lots of other posts with the same problem. hope they get this fixed.

                Hi uslaves
I just installed Version 8.0.7.3 and tested on another post found here http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=12338 and the Audio and Video were synced perfect, letting Fab choose everything, and not changing a thing.

There is something broke and I am sure they will get it fixed.

Thanks, this will be the first year I get to ride it in 7 years, put it away when my son was born.

Had time now to dig out my logs for the fails on 8.0.8.5 and subsequent successon on 8.0.7.3. In the following logs the rip was being done from ISO images created by DVDFab mounted by VirtualCD.

Shrek worked with 8.0.8.5 and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Monsters Inc were way out of sync, but both corrected in 8.0.7.3.

Personally I can't see much difference between the 2 runs (other than the result).

I have space to keep these 2 images hanging around if you want me to do any comparative tests to help get to the bottom of it.

how did you guys reinstall the older version - did you uninstall the new one or just install over the top. i installed over the top and still have the same problem. i'll try the uninstall/reinstall and see what happens.

god i hope they fix this.

i used to have a zx6. sold my car and it was my only transport (i was in san francisco so i could ride all year round) loved it until someone hit me on the highway and totaled it (and busted me up in the process) i've ridden after that but would not buy another one - be safe out there....

                      Hi uslaves
Older versions can be found here http://www.oldapps.com/dvdfab.php

You can install over the top but I have more than one version of 8 installed and running. You can keep a newer version for the newer encryptions, but use an older one for the conversions.
If you want to do this see this post http://forum.dvdfab.com/showpost.php...56&postcount=7

I will be safe on it, even though it is a "Crotch Rocket" and have taken it to its limits of 167-MPH those days are done, to much to live for.
I know what you mean about being hit, I watch every car on the road I do not trust anyone.
