DVD Ripper ATV2: Why no 5.1 on ripped Star Wars Phantom Menace?

Hi. I've just ripped Star Wars Phantom Menace DVD. Chose the ATV profile. Ensured the 5.1 audio was selected. Ripped away, but in playback, I only see two channels lit-up on my receiver. Any thoughts on this? Could be a PCM vs bitstream config issue? How can I tell if DVD Ripper actually ripped 5.1? Thanks!

So, here's an answer on your question. As you can see, your content coded with AAC audio:
        Channel(s) : 6 channels
        Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE
I guess your receiver have some issues with AAC. Is there a particular reason to rip in ATV profile? What is your overall set for playback, i.e. player, source storage, etc.

Yes. I'm wanting to rip all my Std DVD's, host them on my media server, and use iTunes/ATV2 to play them. Is AAC my only audio format option?

I think the ATV2 will output DD5.1 over a fibre optic connection to the receiver.

Check this out and if this is the case, you can use one of the audiocopy profiles and use the Dolby Digital 5.1 track untouched.

Or you could always buy a decent media player !!

Out of all solutions I like this one the most. I never understand people's desire to complicate their life with something that is extremely user-unfriendly (iTunes) and/or obviously handicapped (WMS). Needless to say that I strongly dislike (to the point of hate) any of Apple products for their absolute unfriendliness to consumer. I think it designed by aliens...
