DVD Ripper Videos encoded for PS3 won't play since updating to 8.1.0.0

When trying to rip a dvd to play on my PS3 its creating a mp4 as usual with no errors but when I attempt to play the file on the PS3 it never starts. The file appears to start but just hangs with a black screen, no errors, no sound, no nothing...

I use the standard ps3 profile but I change the bitrate to 3072, the volume to 150%, and the encoding to 2-pass. It only effects video conversions when using 8.1.0.0, if I reinstall 8.0.8.5 and use the same settings to encode the video it plays fine, and has many times before. The video has had the exact same problem on 3 different recently released dvd's.

I am currently running Windows 7 Professional (64 bit), on dual FX-74 (3Ghz) processors, with 4Gb of ram. I've had no changes in hardware or software within 6 months at least. I have no other dvd/bd software installed other than what is included with windows natively.

Here is the dvdfab_internal.log for the latest attempt:

I posted this issue a few days ago under a different thread - . The issue, from what I can tell is that an empty subtitle track is being created that the PS3 cannot handle. It is hard to see it however. I use Wild Media Server for my media server software and when it scans all of my mp4 resources it detects a subtitle track on files created with 8.1 even though it was not supposed to create one. If I use an older version, like 8.0.8.5 the empty subtitle track does not exist and the files play fine on the PS3. This may not be the whole story however. In my other post you'll see that I also noticed that in the file properties the movie title is not being set like it should be and when I try to set it via the file properties in Windows 7 it takes a few minutes to save which is indicative of a problem with the file. If I change a movie title the same way with a file created with 8.0.8.5 it saves in a split-second.

Yeah it's broken. As a work around until it gets fixed genric.DivX.audiocopy works fine on the PS3.

        I have the same problem.

I don't have the option in Blu-ray Ripper to go directly to generic.DivX.audiocopy. I believe it's only in Video Converter.

        Am I missing something.

I can't say for sure I don't do anything currently with Blu-Ray. DivX is an AVI file and Blu-Ray Ripper does have some AVI options.

I'm stuck using 8.0.8.5 until this is fixed. I only rip to MP4/H264 so I can use the files both from my internal media server for streaming on my home network but also for using on my Sprint EVO when I travel.

Looks like I'll be sticking with 8.0.8.5 as well until they get this fixed. I use a media server as well and like using MP4's because I can insert movie poster art and misc info into the file so its easier to navigate on the PS3.

                8.1.0.1 beta

Just so you know the 8.1.0.1 beta version does not fix the issue.

                  8.1.0.2 Beta

8.1.0.2 doesn't fix the problem either! Audio but no video.

I don’t know whether this is helpful or not but in past versions I could make one mp4 for the iPad and it would play in either the iPad or the PS3. The PS3 will play m4v made for the iPad just fine. 8.1.0.2 files will still play on the iPad but not the PS3. m4v files made with alternative software will play on both.

Ever since the 3d Converter was added to Blu Ray ripper (qt versions) when making a M2ts file the sound doesn't work with Powerdvd 10 and PlayStation. If you make a PlayStation file the sound doesn't play.In the latest version of Fab 8103 the sound will play after a while of black screen but still no picture. When will this be fixed?
The older non Qt Fab versions doesn't have this problem and work fine but they don't do the 3d conversions so i can't use the bluray ripper at all to make 3d conversions that will play on the computer using Powerdvd10 or use it to make M2ts or playstation files to play on it.

                        Finalize troubleshooting done.
This issue cause of new FirmWare of PS3.
                        3.41 NOT repro, 3.55 did.
We will fix this issue ASPS.

I think it's more than a Playstation firmware problem because the computer won't play the the sound from a m2ts file with Power dvd 10 and it plays fine with the non qt versions of dvd fab.Their may be 2 different problems here. Please check this out thank you.

I have to agree, if it was strictly a PS3 firmware issue it should effect all my previously encoded videos. As it stands the only videos that don't play are those encoded with with 8.1.0.0 and above.

Obviously, I'm not say this isn't a bug for DVDfab. Form QT version we rebuild .mp4 logic, but not update our PS3. Because of this, only fabQT and newer firmware of PS3 can repro this issue. We know what will we do, just waiting for next version of fab. And try again.

BTY: mo2ts files no sound is known issue. But we won't fix two issue in same time. If the fixed build no any sound issue, we will fix next.
