    BD Ripper (3D Plus) Intel quick synac / performance

    Hi,

    I have a new laptop that I'm trying out quick sync in Dvd fab and have odder results. I do have a system that supports this, and arc soft media converter and badaboom work fine with this system and show performance improvements.

    In bd ripper if I have h264 and mpeg2 decoder set to IQS and the encoder set to IQS, it works, but is almost 2x slower than software encoders / decoders.

    Version is 8.1.0.5qt. Am I missing something here?

    Hi, greekman123,

    Did you uncheck the option for Lightning Recoding right below, when you want the priority of IQS? You know, you can't have the tiger and the lion in one cage as they gonna fight against each other.

          Some progress, sort of

          Ok, some progress...

          I had look at my new system (a laptop)...and it has a handy dandy utility called Intel Control center. It had 2 settings for power ...plugged in and on battery. Both were set to balanced....being more weighted to battery life. (Why anyone wouldn't want max performance when plugged in is a bit of a mystery...)

          I now get 230+ fps when ripping dvds.

          However, blu-rays don't work at all (tried numerous ones today). It churns for about 10 seconds, then crashes:

          mobile work failed(504.00 0 error: process exception, filter(type128:id13), info = 503.00 13,

          I've tried with encoding as IQS, and all decoding as software, mpeg2 as software and IQS, same with h.264. Also fiddled with Lightning option.

          The only one works is using software decoding for all. I'll post a snip from the logs.

          Thanks again for the help.

                Yes, they are monitoring this forum. No solution though. I have my Fab crashes with same error as well (on Video Converter). So, just be patient and update to every built.

                  I have both an I7 Desktop and I7 laptop with Quicksync enabled, and have spent many weeks playing with different settings and drivers/software updates.

                  If I set QS to both encode and decode, I also get 25 fps avge speeds through the entire process. If I set QS to decode and software to encode I get 120fps avge. If I do software decode + QS encode I get 120fps avge but the file is unplayable with jumpy video and distorted audio.

                  The only time I have managed to get both encode and decode with QS working was with a dvd rip and it got to 500fps but the final file was also jumpy and distorted. So I have set it to QS decode and SFT encode for now untill it gets fixed.

                    An interesting thread and one that I have had similar problems with since installing the QT series. My present problem (DVD Fab Version 8106QT) refers purely to BD Ripper using 'Gladiator' as my test and stopping the process after about 10 to 20 minutes so as to check the results. I am ripping to PS3 MP4 format. Relevant logfile entries are copied below. So far, for all present BD rips, I am still using 8085 as this one works well - It seems that the latest 'QT' series have problems - Any help would be gratefully received;

                    1) Start process normally, ripping the BD PS3 MP4 file to desktop hard drive and cancel after about 10 to 20 minutes
                    2) Playback on my desktop (Win 7 64 bit) is good for about 3 to 5 minutes but then the audio disappears with only video continuing
                    3) Copy the file to my Network NPnP hard drive and stream to the PS3
                    4) Playback is very 'jumpy and stuttering'
                    5) However, at the point where the sound track disappears (see 2 above), the video becomes smooth and of the normal good quality

                    Here are the latest logfile extracts;
