BD Ripper (3D Plus) Why fixed bitrate?

I wonder why there is no option for a variable bit-rate when encoding a bluray to mkv.
As a matter of fact VBR gives best results in both video quality and file dimensions.
Is it possible to have this function? Will it be available in future releases?
