DVD Ripper Audio Sync issue with Apple TV Profile

    Hi,

I'm new to dvdfab and just started trying to copy a large stack of DVDs to my NAS to play through Apple TV 2.

I've tried to rip a few different movies using the standard Apple TV profile (main movie only), but find lip sync issue with the audio. I'm only ripping AC3 and not 5.1.

Can anybody give me any guidance for a better profile to use or alternate settings? Will I get better success if I include the 5.1 audio?

    Thanks for your guidance

    Andrew

Adexis, I run across a movie occasionally that will not sync up the A/V or just won't complete at all and I fall back on version 8.0.7.3 hasn't failed me yet. You might go to: and give it a try.

Thanks very much, I'll give that a try now. Which profile do you recommend that would work well on an Apole TV2 and an iPad?

That version has a profile for each, you might try the Apple TV file to see if it plays on the iPad? If it works for you that is. But I think the iPad has to have AAC audio?

Thanks again. I'll try the apple tv version. I think that has AAC audio anyway so shoud be ok.

          Really appreciate the help

I tried the Apple TV profile in version 8.0.7.3 and changed the audio to stereo @ 160 kbps and it plays fine on my iPad, I don't have Apple TV so

              Apple Audio Sync

Thanks for letting us know that this problem did not happen with 8.0.7.3. I loaded that version, and it works fine. As someone else in a related thread seemed to observe, it looks like it gets fixed in a release and then broken. I started with 8.1.9.0 and observed that the sync problem happens on all my Apple devices (iPad, iPod, AppleTV). It also happens simply by playing the movie in iTunes on a Windows or MAC PC. As someone noted in a similar thread, it does not seem to happen on Windows Media Player, for the same mp4 file. When I downgraded my installation to 8.0.7.3, it all works beautifully on any Apple device, on iTunes, or on Windows Media Player. WHat is frustrating is that there are some nice feature in 8.1.9.x that I loose by sticking with an old version; it's kind of a waste to have paid for multiple years of support when I cannot upgrade.

I also tried the suggestions of some to rip the content to hard disk first, then re-encode the video with the hard disk version as a source. That makes zero difference, except that I found I liked having a non-compressed version of the DVD on my PC, so I am going through the extra step anyway. What I mean is that I can use 8.0.7.3 right from the DVD drive, and it makes great apple compatible video in h.264 format. If I use 8.1.9.0 or 8.1.9.6, it has sync issues whether its sourced from a hard disk, or from the optical drive.
