DVD Ripper Unable to RIP using DVDfab 8.1.8.5

    Hello folks!
I just installed the lastest version of DVDfab and I am puzzled. Whenever I try to use DVD rip, my conversion stops at around 30-35% then the framerate slowly drops at 0. A/V encoder set to Software. Tried to create a H264 for my iPhone or AVI...

I tried to use the A/V setting to hardware or software but I get the same result. I had the same problem with 8.1.7.5.

Could it be a codec issue?

Didn't work with the latest buil either..

Ok, same result. The conversion process stalls at around 34%. The program does not crash, if I look at the CPU %, it drops to 0 when the conversion stops... Here is the internal log

I've ran across a select few DVDs that just will not be made into an MP4 file no way with a QT version of Fab. Something about the way they are authored I suppose. When I run across one of them I use 8.0.7.3 and it works a treat! You can get it here: and give it a try.

I'd suggest trying 8.1.7.8 . Since that version I have seen stalls on various DVDs and DVDfab builds. I've never had a stall on 8.1.7.8 .

Why not give a try about the latest release 8187? It's OK here.

I tried it Terry5 on one of those weird DVDs, and it won't complete either. It will go until a certain point and all CPU activity drops to zero and encoding stops. 8.1.8.7 works fine on most DVDs but specific titles just won't be converted to MP4 period. That's when I fall back on 8.0.7.3 and make my MP4.

                      Oh well

Even with 8.1.8.7 none of them completes on my end here. So I guess I will discard DVDfab for good and get something else. There is no way I will keep 2 versions of the same software just "in case". DVDfab should fix this. The support is almost non existent and our posts are left unanwsered because they have no clue on how to fix this.

Sorry DVDfab, you lost the edge.

                        Hi Trakkat78
I understand that some versions get broken, but as most of us we use other versions when we hit a road block.

I have 15 versions on my computer, some for testing and others for when I may hit that road block, problem solved.

They take up very little space, so I consider that a plus.

Try using the link that my friend 90312 suggested.

You may also have better success copying the movie to your HDD first using DVD Copy and then using that to do your conversions.
