BD Ripper (3D Plus) Ripping BluRay to AVI

Hey gang, I searched but didn't find an answer for what I was looking for. I have finally made the jump from regular dvd's to bluray as I just got a new Samsung LED Smart tv. I have a windows home server that has several files on it that I can watch and noted that a lot of them are .avi and seem in decent quality with small file sizes. I was playing around trying to get DVDFab v. 9 to rip a bluray to avi and all I get is audio. What am I missing?

Also what file type do you recommend ripping a bluray to other than mkv which I have read about on here and am currently trying out

    Thanks!

You can take some of the guess work out by downloading a free program "MediaInfo" and check one of the files that play for you to see exactly what it is. Or experiment a little, I would try "avi.h264.audiocopy" or "avi.xvid.audiocopy" on a chapter or two so it don't take so long and see if it's what you want.
