DVD Ripper DVDfab crashing on ripping THE BAD SEED

Have the latest windows version of dvdfab. Trying to rip an old DVD of mine THE BAD SEED. Audio options are "directors comment AC 3/2, and mono AC 3/1 (only other option without directors comment). Ripping to iPhone mp4 media. Selecting AC 3/2 works/rips fine but the audio is the unwanted directors comment. Selecting AC 3/1 (mono) dvdfab crashes every time. Tried messing with advanced audio under iPhone ripping, still no go. Crashes. Tried previous dvdfab version also. Crashes.
Is there a trick when ripping AC 3/1 audio?
