DVD Ripper Do I need Passkey with ripper?

I would like to rip commercial DVDs for playback on a tablet since it does not have a dvd drive. Do I need to need to purchase Passkey also so the copy protection is removed when creating the mp4 file or does DVD Ripper take care of that?
