I purchased some Studio Canal titles recently that I want to make digital copies of as well, old rare stuff, but I noted that although DVDfab and others (AnyDVD) will transfer the files from the disc to my HDD, the files still carry a protection that stops them being converted to an MP4 (or other video format). However the VOBs can be played by any media player off the HDD.
So it's an interesting protection, are there any plans afoot to remove it?
An example move is called Dandy Dick featuring Will Hay.
