DVD Ripper DVD Ripper Error - Process Failed!

I'm on a trial of DVD Ripper and am trying to rip a DVD using mkv passthrough, and I get a "Process Failed!" error. I would like to purchase, but it doesn't seem to work. I also tried to copy the disc using DVD Copy (again, a trial), and the copy is really fast and doesn't seem to detect any encryption. The result is a completely garbled copy that's not watchable. Any ideas?

Using ImgBurn to copy the disc before ripping was the problem. Ripping directly from disc with DVDfab worked. Not sure why ImgBurn didn’t work, as I remember having used ImgBurn in the past to copy a disc before ripping, and it worked. The strange thing is that the iso created by ImgBurn played just fine on my PC without decrypting it. I then copied the iso to my Popcorn Hour, and the video did not play at all. Strange.

You can only use img burn to copy a unencrypted disk. You must take the encryption off the disk with Fab or Passkey before you can copy it.

Yes, so it seems. But, why did the disc copy I made with ImgBurn play correctly on my PC? I would have thought I would have to remove the encryption for the copy to play correctly, but it worked.

Because the BBC tv show The Scream of the Shalka may not have any copy protection on it as it costs them more to make it.

Yes, I thought about that. But, when I copied the iso I created using ImgBurn, it did not play at all on my Popcorn Hour.....

Post the burn log maybe something wrong with the burning process or your blank disk.

I don't have the burn log, as I burned the iso file at my friends house. That was the whole idea of using ImgBurn, as I thought I could create an iso file to my flash drive and then take the iso file home to decrypt using DVDfab. My friend has the disc, but no DVDfab license....

I can remember doing this very thing with success in the past, so I don't know what went wrong this time. I do remember the ImgBurn created the iso file without error. I tested the same process using a DVD of my own, and got errors from ImgBurn:

                I 16:20:34 Reading Layer 0... (LBA: 0 - 1681135)
W 16:20:35 Failed to Read Sectors 384 - 415 - Reason: Read of Scrambled Sector Without Authentication
W 16:20:35 Failed to Read Sector 384 - Reason: Read of Scrambled Sector Without Authentication

Anyway, I can now see this process is not reliable and I won't try doing a copy this way again. Thanks.

                  TitanFan, give this a read:
