Movie Format for Transcend PF810 Digital Photo Frame

    Hi,

I have been trying to format a DVD movie to play on a Transcend PF810 Digital Picture Frame that supposedly can play a variety of Video Formats.

    Stated as;

    MPEG1/4 (SP/ASP), Motion JPEG, (AVI, MOV, MPG, MP4, 3GP; Up to 720x576 @ 30FPS).

Their web site (www.transcendusa.com) suggests using "Super" to format files to PT Format.

Video (avi (output container), M-Jpeg (selected output video codec), Wav-(pcm 16 little-endian) (select output audio codec), 320:240 (video scale size), 4:3 (aspect) and 15FPS (frame per sec) and 2496 (bitrate))

Audio (Sampling Freq 22050, Channels 2, Bitrate kbps 705)

Can make playable files by DVDFab > AVI then > PT Format and DVDFAB >MP4 then > PT Format.

Final File Output is not acceptable, for me anyway. The Picture quality sucks and Video and Audio are out of sync. Plus the Audio Volume is so low that even at the maximum setting on the PF810 you can hardly hear it.

How can I fix this and what would be the best direct method with DVDFab Mobile to avoid formatting the files twice.

I am starting with DVD Movie Files already created and burned by DVDFab to DVD5.

    Help?

      Hi GregiBoy,

Sold! We have the Harbor Fireworks tonight anyway.

Week of the 4th Jan is fine with me. I might even have an answer from Transcend by then, but my bet is with the DVDFab Forum.

Mate, I've got a coldie in my hand right now but I bet you sh1t to sixpence that a standard AVI format will work. (Without Conversion)

I actually import heaps of these to Oz and I am sure that they all come out of the same factory and I have had plenty working with video.

Leave me get over the party tonight and the hangover tomorrow and I'll get back to you.

        Is that OK?

          Hi,

Then as long as you can provide instructions for a 5 year old we should be cool.

Just got the thing on the 23rd Dec and while Photos(JPEGs), Music (MP3s) and Radio are good, the Videos and Movies so far are a no-go.

But then again, figuring out how to get it to go at all, took me a while. On top of that I have been mucking around with a Sony Dream Machine. Same deal photos, music and movies plus the *&%$#@ Nano.

Christmas is grand, but definitely no techno wiz at this end!

Hope your head will feel better than mine in the morning.

          MaƱana!

But think about the seafood lunch .. all those prawns, muddies, and MB bugs!

            Hi,

            Still doodling.

Tried using just straight DVDFab to Mobile to AVI.

Picture quality is very good now but I have no audio (speakers or headphones) when I try to play it via TDK 4GB USB Stick on the PF810?

AVI file plays fine on my PC using VLC Media Player with good picture quality and sound.

            Help.

I did a test as I promised and on the picture frames that I import, the generic.avi.xvid.mp3 profile works fine and I set the audio bitrate at 64, volume 150% because the speakers aren't that great anyway.

              What profile did you use?

                Hi,

Being a duma&& I used the settings that I guess are the DVDFab to Mobile to AVI defaults.

                generic.avi.divx.audiocopy.

But now I hear the term "which profile" I have looked a little deeper and am now running DVDFab and making a new copy using the settings you suggested.

                generic.avi.xvid.mp3

As the PF810 player specs say that the music formats if can play are (MP3, WMA (non-DRM), WAV) that probably explains the no audio with "audiocopy"?

Will be finished with the new copy soon and will get back to you.

So, yes those settings work fine, but I have gone back again to try a volume setting of 200%.

                Thanks and Regards

Yeah, audiocopy will copy the audio stream without change and a good chance it was Dolby Digital, hence "NO PLAY".

Glad to hear you are gtting things sussed.

                    Hey,

Thanks heaps for your "over the festive season help". That format even works on the Sony Dream Machine, which means I do not have to make two different formats for their movies!

                    Yeah!

Kind Regards and Best Wishes to you and yours.

PS Still haven't heard back from Transcend in the USA and it is all sorted here.

                      Hi again,

Minor oops. I still seem to have a sync problem between the video and audio.

I have made a new copy of the DVD I am working on (Bedtime Story) with DVDFab to Mobile to AVI and reduced the Video FPS from 25 to 20 in the "generic.avi.xvid.mp3" profile, which I have set as my avi.default.

I will get back if this helps and/or wait for further expert advice and instruction.

                      Regards
