BD Ripper (3D Plus) Mortal Instruments Ripp Issue

I was able to make a full disc copy of The Mortal Instruments - City Of Bones using V9.1.1.1 and watch the copy without a problem. But when I ripp the main movie using Avi h.264 the process completes without any error but when I watch it Media Player Classic shows that the video is the proper length i.e. 2:10:16 but when I play the movie it plays normally up until 29 minutes 30 seconds and then the movie halts and won't play past that point.

I first tried it with CUDA enabled in A/V codecs and then I disabled all GPU codecs and tried again with the same result. I had lightning encoding enabled in both instances but tried it again with CUDA off and Lightning Encoding off and I still had the same problem.

Has anyone seen something like this and have an idea what the problem is?

Try it with a different media player Fab media player is free to play disks on and their are other free software players on the internet.

      Mortal Instruments Ripp Issue

I tried reripping with Avi / Mp4 and I still had the same problem with Media Player Classic. I installed VLC Media Player and tried to play it in VLC and VLC gave me a message something like "The index file for this title is damaged and will prevent scrolling from working" and then asked if I wanted to rebuild the index file; I said yes to that and VLC was ale to play the file without a problem but I still had the same issue with Media Player Classic so I guess there's some kind of problem with MPC. But I also have to wonder if there's a issue with the ripper as VLC indicated that the index was damaged.

It will be helpful to let the developers look at your internal log file for the rip so please post it.Also try the latest Fab 9112.

          Mortal Instruments Ripp Issue

I just reripped and switched back to h.264 / CUDA (using 9.1.1.1), and still the same problem in MPC; the internal log is below. I tried with VLC again and got the same message "Because this AVI file index is broken or missing, seeking will not work correctly. VLC won't repair your file but can temporary fix this problem by building an index in memory" which I said yes to. But now I'm noticing another problem, in MPC the movie showed that is was the correct length 2:10:16 but in VLC the movie shows total time as only 1:30:25 and if I scroll to the end about 1:25 plus minutes I can see the end credits play so between the beginning of the movie and the end there's 39 minutes and 51 seconds of scenes missing from the avi file.

As per your suggestion I downloaded the 9.1.1.2 beta and I'm going to try again and see what results I get and I'll post back but the list of things fixed in this minor update doesn't mention any changes or fixes to the ripper.

            Mortal Instruments Ripp Issue

Just finished another ripp with 9.1.1.2 and I'm still seeing the exact same problem with MPC and VLC.

Now Man Of Steel, Same Problem

Now the same as Mortal Instruments, Man of Steel has a similar problem. I can copy the disc without a problem and the playlist file 100 / stream plays without any issue. But when I ripp to AVI / h.264 the resulting file has a number of problems. First in MPC the run time of the movie shows the correct length of 2:23:03 but when playing the file it gets to 28:30 and the video stops and hangs but the audio will continue to play for another 30 seconds or so. When I play the file in VLC it only shows the run time as 1:24:38, in this case the file will play all the way to the end 1:24:30 but thats almost an hour short of how long the movie should be. The avi file appears to be the right size, the size of the file being 10,369,669,336 which based on experience is about the right size for a movie of this length.

Has anyone else run into this? Fab people, any questions or comments?

Tried that with Mortal Instruments and still the exact same problem, Man of Steel as well.

                        Now Saving Private Ryan

I just ripped Saving Private Ryan with the "2gb-" option unchecked and I'm seeing the same exact problem with the resulting avi file that I saw with Mortal Instruments and Man of Steel. MPC reports the movie length as 2:29:29 and when played somewhere between 28-30 minutes video freezes while the audio continues for another 20 seconds or so and then MPC goes from playing to paused. VLC reports the same thing, that the index is damaged and asked to build a temporary one in memory. VLC reports the length of the movie as 1:7:55 and if I scroll to the end I do see the credits so this is the same problem as Mortal Instruments where lots of scenes seem to be missing or are somehow being skipped over as the avi plays, I mean after all the file is 15,412,368,566 which is about the size I would expect for a movie this length.

So I really think that there's a serious problem in the ripper given that I seem to be having this problem not just with new movies but with older titles as well. Not to mention that I ripped Mortal Instruments / Savings Private Rytan on one machine and Man of Steel on another with similar results.

                          It's version 9.1.x.x

I tried ripping some episodes of Arrow S1 and again the same problem; I downgraded to 9.1.0.6 and tried again and still had the same problem. I then downgraded to 9.0.7.2 and I'm happy to report that the ripper in this version ripped the episodes of Arrow without the issue that I had with 9.1.x.x.

I posted back 8 days ago that your suggested fix didn't work and that it seems like every title I ripp on two computers has the same issue.

Is this problem being investigated? Is there going to be a resolution in the near future?
