DVD Ripper DVD Ripper: mp4.passthrough?

Sorry if this has been discussed already. I've used the search and couldn't find any info on the topic.

I would like to rip my DVDs to mp4.passthrough for the best quality. This option is available for Blu rays but not DVDs. Why is this not an option for DVDs?

I'm currently using mp4.h264, video quality set to customized bit/pixel set to .5 but I really want the best quality and don't care about file size.

I'm needing the mp4 container because I'm streaming it to my Xbox One.

DVD Source Video Passthrough

DVD video source does not support convert to MP4 Passthrough.
You can try to convert to MKV Passthrough.

The reason for this is that the MP4 container des not support many of the possible input formats whereas the MKV container does.
