BD Ripper (3D Plus) Best "Rip to" format

What is the difference between ripping to M2TS vs Mp4, MKV, etc. I am ripping to a NAS for network playback on several devices: Blu-Ray player network DLNA capability, Apple TV, and a few others.
I tried ripping one Blu-Ray disc (a concert) and it would stop at 5%. I then, by accident, tried MP4 and it ripped thru.
Any advice and understanding would be most appreciated.

Pick the lowest common denominator of all your devices. This may not even be possible.

This may take some research on your part of their specs.

MP4 is probably the easiest

Personally I rip to MKV because all my playback is on Windows platforms and making MKV play on Windows is easy. However, if you want to support Apple TV etc, MP4 is probably the best best.

I think MKV is the best too shame it won't play on Apple TV.
