Other Running within a VirtualBox

I'm looking at installing Windows 7 or 8 on within VirtualBox on my Freenas configuration.

If I do this and upgrade the DVD drive to BD Drive, will I be able to backup my media as I would on my normal Windows 8 PC (I have lifetime DVD and BluRay Ripper plus DVD Copy).

As I'm using my PC less (have tablets) so I want to make use of the VirtualBox within Freenas and was wondering if this would work, as don't fancy having to uninstall the version on my PC to then install it on VB to then find it doesn't work and have to go about re-installing on PC

Install it to the VB and if it works then uninstall from the PC, or just leave it and use it if needed on the PC.

It may work, but...

At best, performance will suck because there will be no GPU acceleration, I'd guess a few frames/sec if you're lucky
