BD Ripper (3D Plus) Can't turn on/off PGS subs in MKV container in Blu-ray Player?

I converted all my DVD movies to MKV and subs work great on my set-top player. I can turn them on or off with my remote and the forced subs show up when they are available.

I am now using the trial Blu-ray Ripper and am having a problem displaying subs with Blu-ray movies. While the PGS subs work great on the PC, I can't get them to work on my player. I don't want the subs hardcoded into the film, I want them remuxed into the file so I can turn them on or off.

Is there a player that will display PGS subs or another solution?

Yes, there are standalones that play PGS subs just fine, e.g. Oppos.

I used the program bdsup2sub and converted the pgs-subtitles into sub/idx when i had the same problem.Then used mkvtoolnix and merged them into my mkvs.

Both solutions look interesting but I thought the first step to take is to purchase the program and that is what I did.
