BD Ripper (3D Plus) AMD AM3+ cpu system crashes

anyone here have an AMD AM3+ system running windows 7? I have a FX-8150, 8 core CPU and when I try to rip furious 7, insurgent and some other movies, DVDFab would crash and my PC would just shut off.

I have narrowed this to an AMD problem, because I ripped these on an Intel system and there were no problems at all.
any help would be appreciated. thank you!

      here it is:

it just crashes after 2 minutes or so. my pc is frozen and I have to click the PC's reset button to restart.
I just tried a 'copy video' option on blu-ray ripper (I guess this is a full copy?), and that worked fine without problems.
I also tried a few more things to try and isolate the problem:
      1. change to use 4 or 5 cpu cores but had to cancel it as it was too slow -under 1 fps; using 6, 7, or 8 cores crashes
      2. lowered cpu clock speed from 3600mhz to 2800mhz but it still crashed
      3. as mentioned, 'copy video' using 6 cpu cores worked fine

but would be nice to be able to control the output size rather than that big of a file down the line.
      thank you.

      here is the log:

Out of curiosity, have you checked to ensure you don't have heat problem ? Based upon your description, when you are ripping to MKV the CPUs are working hard and generating lots of heat. With a copy function they are not. I am not sure what motherboard you have but most have utilities to monitor CPU temperature. I have an FX-8120 and it works fine.

that's a great idea. no, i never thought about cpu temperature. I always run w/ the side case panel off so I would think it's cooler. But I will monitor it and report back. thanks.

support also sent some ideas - run w/ less cores, Disable all GPU codecs for decoding and encoding, and also disable "Enable Lightning-Recoding when applicable (accelerate H.264 software decoding and encoding"; but it still crashed. they also suggested update my video card's driver, which I did and still no luck. another suggestion was to uninstall dvdfab and re-install, so I'll try this next, and also monitor the temperature
          will report back. thank you.

thanks for the great suggestion. It looks like it is heat related. As I have ripped it using 6 and 8 cores without any problems. I had to run a small fan pointing it right into my case and it lowered the temp by 15+ degrees. Will have to look for a better fan (or just use a fan when ripping)

            thank you again!

No problem. Glad that was it.
