Out of interest, what's the make, model and size of the flash-drive? Some are a lot faster than others!

I reformatted a drive to exFAT and FAT32. The results were the same, which is to say, not good. Once the movie finally starts, stopping the movie means having to wait another significant amount of time before it is able to continue

I didn't mention that the OPPO runs through my Yamaha AV receiver but I can't see that as being an issue. Unless something positive changes, I will contact OPPO on Monday.

did you try doing the error checking / fragmentation on your
flash drive?

The issue I am having is that when I rip a DVD to MKV Passthrough, the OPPO 103D takes 2-4 minutes to recognize the file via USB. By recognize, I mean the flash drive light is constantly showing it is reading the file and when it is complete, the player displays the resolution and length of the movie. If I use the remote to play the file, it takes another few minutes for the file to load and play. I always thought the files were bad, the unit was hung up so I would reboot the OPPO.

Have you tried it with smaller file sizes, does the length of time vary with size. It sounds like the Opp player is reading the whole file before it gives you the information, and a 20+GB file will take to read

In the meanwhile, I connected the OPPO directly to the TV and there was no change. I'll try the beta and then play with handshake issues.

No change with the beta. It's hard to imagine cable issues or handshake issues given that other formats play without any issues but I will exhaust all efforts at my end before checking with OPPO.

Thank you both for your time. I am up and about.

All my flash drives are NTFS. The files sizes for a typical DVD source converted using an MKV Passthrough profile is approximately 3gb.

Okay I've looked at your 'WolfCop' MediaInfo file report.

There does not appear to be anything odd within the report. The 'pull-down' field flags are still within the MPEG-2 stream (I often manually remove these using another application).

So, Signals question regarding 'USB drive formats' might provide a reason for what you're experiencing. As you may already know, the Oppo BDP-10x range of players support, FAT-32, NTFS and exFAT formatted HDD's (personally I use the latter).

I have an Oppo BDP-103 myself. However, all my media files are stored on a Synology NAS and are accessed via UPnP or SMB hard-wired network connection. I very rarely plug a USB HDD directly into the player, except for playing 'test files'.

Anyway, I accessed a few of my (MPEG-2) 'DVD disc.mkv' file back-ups last night and they were as quick to open as my 'BRD disc.mkv' file back-ups...

Is the USB drive formatted FAT32? Does the player support other drive formats? How about VIDEO_TS folders? How large is the MKV file?

What is happening is beyond my pay grade and I am lost.

I have 2 screen shots of alerts/error messages saying I have exceeded my quota by 68.8 KB. My total of attachments is 1.02 MB. I have no idea how to delete any of the attachments. I will copy/paste the txt file.

I tried to paste the txt file and received the following error message:

"You have included 9 images in your message. You are limited to using 4 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the BB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator".

Use the Manage Attachments button to attach the MediaInfo text file.

I always make an image of my drive before I DL anything in case of problems. I think this is what you want.

There is also a delay in responding as my posts require a moderator's approval (not sure why?).
