    Terminator 2 0% problem

Having problems getting Terminator 2 DVD to encode using ANY form of encoding. Version used 6.1.0.2 (beta). Regardless if using a DVD disc or ISO file as a source file, it does not work. Worked fine using DVDfab version 5.112, but not since the encoding was changed in version 6. Also GPU acceleration is still grayed out and unselectable (selection is stuck on DXVA).

The program starts to encode, but the fps on the encoding screen stays at 0.00 , and the percentage readout is 0.00. I let the program run for 3 hours. Still no change. I have included a screen shot all relevant logs. Here is a list of details of 4 different machines I tried to encode the DVD on, and a random selection of other DVDs to compare with. They ALL failed to encode Terminator 2 successfully using version 6. All machines encoded the DVD (slower than 6) but without problems using version 5. Times are on fasted machine.

I too have had this problems on a few disks. I tried on 2 different PCs as well. I just ended up using another program to convert the ripped to HD disk to avi. I am currently having this very same problem with a low budget horor movie called Detour. If there is a solution, I'd love to know for both our sakes.

    Anyone?

have you both tried ripping main movie only and then converting?

Yes. In fact that is the only way I do rip. I also did notice that If I set it for a 2 pass it will complete the first pass fine but hangs when starting the second and if I set it for a 1 pass it hangs before it starts which makes me think its a problem with the actual encoding since on 2 pass setting the first pass is only used to gather data.

I've tried full disc and main movie. Tried making an ISO and ripping from that, and from disc. Nothing works with this title. It's a bug in versions 6. It worked fine with version 5. It can be my setup, as I've used 4 different machines, ALL with different drives, motherboards, sound cards and graphic cards. Not even got acknowledgment about my email to the software manufacturer. Wasted my time compiling all the information about my systems, and posting log details, if they are not even going to bother.

The authors read this forum and will pick up on what you have had to say. I will try my Terminator 2 disk tonight and post the results here.

              hi,

I will do the test for Terminator2 first. and try to solve this problem.

              thanks report.

I too have been having problems converting. I haven't converted a dvd successfully yet after many tries now. Crashes at about 30% completion and the estimated completion time starts at about 45min and gets longer and longer as it progresses. I would love to be able to use this too!

OK... I've just done Terminator 2 R4 Ultimate Edition with both generic.avi.xvid.audiocopy and generic.h264.avi.audiocopy with ABSOLUTELY no problems and no audio sync problems.

                  Version 6.1.0.2 Beta
Source -> Hard Disk Folder containing full disk structure
                  2 Pass
                  1100 video bitrate
                  720 x 400 resolution

What profiles are you guys using as I think you may need to be more specific so that we can track this problem down. Also operating system, PC specs may help.

The disc you used is not the EXACT same disc as I used, so your comparison test is not much help really. You might as well have picked a disc at random. So until you use the EXACT same disc, with the same code and barcode, all your claims that everything is fine are a little premature I think.

I was not complaining about audio sync problems. The disc will not encode AT ALL. Please re-read my original post. You will see the EXACT specs and detail for all 4 machines I tested on.

I tried, ALL, yes, I do mean ALL forms of encoding, it took me hours (wasted it seems) but I included the ipod/iphone "ipod touch" profile as an example.

Using a disc as a test analogue because it has "Terminator 2" in the title is not good enough, and is not going to get us very far. You need the same title, same barcode, to make a direct comparison with which to claim that everything is working fine. The only common denominators here are, DVDfab, the DVD disc, and Windows Vista. Everything else is different. CPU, GPU, drivers, motherboards etc. The disc encoded fine using DVDfab 5, so it's something about DVDfab 6 that's causing the problem.

I am prepared to give you ANY information you like if I'm able to, and spend as long as it takes to try and find a solution, but we need to be specific on BOTH sides here. I know it's not the end of the World that I am having problems with this one disc, but I'm not the only one with the 0% problem either. If I come across as moaning and bitching then I'm sorry, but I've had too many software problems in my professional life that it can become frustrating.

Well, the chances are slim of having exactly the same disk with you being in the UK and me being in Australia and the title have been released in many forms since 1991 !!!

I will say one thing though !!!

I have had very similar problems over the years with ALL versions of Fab with some MUSIC DVD's (Rod Stewaret, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, Curtis Mayfield to name a few) and it appeared to be that these DVD's were poorly authored and had non-compliant audio streams.

The only way that I could get anything off of these DVD's was to rip to a DVD folder and remove all copy protection in the process, then import the main movie into a Video Editor (I use ULead Video Studio) and create a compliant DVD which Fab was then able to process.

I do appreciate the help. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

There may indeed be something strange or unusual about this particular version of the disc, I just find it hard to accept that an older version of the software can handle this "strangeness", but the new and improved DVDfab can not. The fact that you yourself have stated that there are a countless variety of Terminator 2 DVD's out there, was the reason I questioned why you posting the result you had with your copy, given the fact it was different to mine, and would not really help as a direct comparison.

I have a copy somewhere of ULead video studio, it was bundled with a DVD drive, it might be the lite version, but it's worth giving it a try. I'll copy the whole DVD to my hard drive with the file structure intact, with the copy protection removed, and see what Video studio makes of it. I also have some other DVD authoring software somewhere that does not re-encode the disc, I might run it through that too.

Thanks again, and I'm sorry if I was short with you earlier, apparently I have a short fuse, and a bad temper (so my wife keep telling me). I have the bruises to show for it

I'll post any findings I make.

                        Cheers

                          Hi,

I know that its been a while since this thread was started but I am having the same problem with T2 and thought that any extra information may prove useful to anyone who might try to get to the bottom of this in the future.

I am using dvdfab 7.0.4.0 on windows 7.

My version of the terminator 2 has the following code on it: VFD08991.

My symptoms are precisely as described by the original poster, fps goes down to 0% and no progress is made, even when doing just a straight vob passthru.

                          Cheers, Matt.

You should update your DVDFab version first and retry.
