I have been trying to use the normal and forced only preset when checking display only forced subtitle. My subtitle mode is extract to idx/sub file. Basically I would like to watch the output file with the forced subs coming on when available without having to turn on the subtitle track, I would also like the ability to turn on the subs as well should I have the need. I thought this was what this setting was for. When selecting normal and forced it never finishes and I have to cancel it. My av codec settings are all set to software. Does this setting even work? Thanks to all who respond

After playing around with many different settings I did get this to work with the mkv preset, it doesn't work with the appletv preset. It does write out 2 sub files (one for forced and the other for regular). not a big deal selecting one or the other. I do wish I could get this to work with the apple preset. -
IIRC Apple supports only text subs and not bitmap subs.
