DVD Ripper DVD rips slower than Blu-Ray

Is it common for DVD rips to be slower than Blu-Rays. I am ripping from discs to hard drive. I have been ripping TV shows average size for a 45 minute show is 7.5Gbs for blu-ray and 520Mbs for DVD; yet a blu-ray will burn in 17 minutes while a DVD takes 25 minutes. Here is the log for the last episode recorded.

It's making the output larger than the original and that may take extra time. There is no point doing that, try making one at 720x480 same as the original and see if it helps.

Checking DVD Rip Speed

I ripped Total Recall (2012), it shows original DVD output size of 854X480. Here are my results: 1st - 1094MB (Fast Speed) @ 856X360, 59fps for 49 min. 2nd - 1406MB (Standard) @ 856-360, 55fps for 52 min. 3rd - 1719MB (High Quality) @ 856-360, 51fps for 55 min. 4th - 512MB @ 320X136, 49fps for 58 min. 5th - 1024MB @ 720X304, 50fps for 58 min. 6th - 1536MB @ 856X360, 52 fps for 55 min.

I would rip the DVD for only a couple of minutes to record info.

What I am unclear on is the Fast Speed, Standard & High Quality settings each have the same output resolution so what are all the extra MB's, what extra information do they provide to a rip.

The fast speed to high quality changes the bits per pixel not the frame resolution. More bits per pixel will deepen colors, blacker blacks and so on. What is your system, CPU and graphics?
