Other External subtitles not always working

I have a big problem with external subtitles (srt). I have many blu rays (series) without Dutch subs. With the ripper tool, I add the external srt subs.

After the ripping, I can select the subtitles on my PC with 'MPC-HC' or on my mediacenter with Kodi, but there are no subtitles displayed during the movie.

I have to rip each episode 1 to 5 times again (with the same settings) to get everything working.

I have this problem since I used DVDFAB 9. In the latest version 10, I have the same problem.

Is this a known problem?

SRT subtitles are rendered entirely by the player, DVDfab can't even generate SRT files directly, so I don't see how it is involved at all. If you drop an SRT file with the right name in a folder, the player should pick it up. Are you naming the SRT file correctly? For example if the video file is "S01E01-Some Episode.mkv", then the SRT file needs to be "S01E01-Some Episode.srt"

I use dvdfab to rip the blu-ray and add the subtitles in the mkv. See screenshots in the attached files.

SRT or PGS?

The screenshots indicate that you are using PGS subtitles remuxed into the MKV, not SRT subtitles which are different. If you look at your file with something like Mediainfo, are the PGS subtitles in there? Also, which media player are you using for playback?

The blu ray series are imported from the UK (I can't find the blu ray's in belgium). I Rip all the series to my nas to play with Kodi. There are no Dutch subtitles available on the blu ray.

To add the Dutch subtitles, I choose my own subtitles (srt) in DVDFab. After the rip, I got a mkv withe the following info:

Video: HVC1 1920x1080 23.976fps [V: hevc main, yuv420p, 1920x1080 [default]]
Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 448kbps [A: English [eng] (ac3, 48000 Hz, 5.1, 448 kb/s) [default]]
Subtitle [S: Dutch [dut] (pgs)]
Subtitle [S: Forced Subtitles (auto)]
Subtitle: UTF-8 [S: No subtitles]

In MPC-HC (media player classic), I can choose the subtitle. But the subtitles do not always play back (PC with MPC-HC or on my mediacenters with Kodi running on android). If it play back after the rip, it always play back for that mkv on every device. If it not play back after the rip, it will never play back for that mkv.

The only way to work is ripping the blu ray several times with the same settings. Sometimes it play back after 1 rip, sometimes after 5 rips.

I have this problem since DVDFab 9.

No need to convert to PGS

Since the subtitles you are muxing back in to the MKV start life as SRT files, there is no need to mux them back in at all. If your video is called movie.mkv, then placing the SRT file in the same folder with a filename of movie.srt should be all you need to do.
