I have been having a problem with the Blu-ray ripper on a handful of titles. The most recent one I've had this issue with is the Paramount Presents Blu-ray of Ghost. I have this issue whether I clone the disc to an ISO on my hard drive first and then rip from that, or rip directly from the disc itself.
I am using MKV/Passthrough to copy all video and audio streams directly to the MKV. The issue is that when I click "start", it begins the process but never gets past 0%, and the "time remaining" quickly escalates from minutes to many hours. After it gets to 200 hours, it resets to 0:00 time remaining, and then fails. The output file is never even created.
I have tried this on several different computers and used several different drives to clone/rip the disc.
I have used this same process with many hundreds of Blu-ray discs and there are just a few that exhibit this problem. The above mentioned Ghost, and also the standard Blu-ray "The Sum Of All Fears" from the 4K Jack Ryan box set have this issue (the 4K/UHD version of Sum Of All Fears works fine).
I have attached two dvdfab_internal log files - one is from the rip from an ISO on the hard drive, and the second is when I tried to rip directly from the disc in a disc drive.
Does anyone have any clue is what is going on and how I can fix this? Ripping to a different format is not an option - I want an MKV with the original streams. If there is a particular audio or subtitle stream causing the issue I could probably remove that particular stream.
Thank you for your help.
