DVDfab consistently misses episodes on flip side of DVD

I have DVDfab 12 v12087. It successfully finds the episodes and their title information on the front side of the DVD. But it consistently misses episodes on the back side. I am trying to rip The Pretender S04. The front of each DVD has 4 episodes and it finds those. The back side of each DVD has 2 episodes and it only finds 1. Two questions:
1 - Is there something I can do to help it pick up things correctly on the back side? I tried a couple of other DVD ripper apps and they picked up both episodes on the back side of each DVD just fine (and ultimately I used a competitor to complete the rips).
2. Why can't I manually select tracks when I need/want to? Is the only option for it to scan and then hope?

try clicking common settings - dvd - pathplayer - disable pathplayer
restart dvdfab and retry the disc again and see if the missing episodes now copy.
