DVD Ripper Rip to MKV using H264

Is there any way to get DVD Fab 13 to rip DVDs using MKV pass--thru.. but save it using H264?

I have looked all over.. I see H-265, but the video quality is terrible. I tried mkv pass-thru, but it saves the file as mpeg2 instead of H264.

I also noticed the blu-rays rip in mkv-h264 format.

I am afraid not, there is no way to pass through the DVD video and at the same time reecode it to H264.
DVDs are originally MPEG2.
