DVD Ripper Yet another tale of A/V sync issues...

My MediaPC is a 2.2GHz quad-core with 2GB of RAM running 32-bit version of XP Pro SP3. I try not to update Windows very often, as this can induce issues.

Over the last few weeks I've converted hundreds of my ripped DVDs (harddrive as source) to AVI without any problems until recently. I use the generic.avi.xbox.bigscreen1.xml profile provided by GeekMan...the pic quality is identical to original DVD in my eyes. Sometime after updating to 7.0.4.0, my sync issues appeared. Since I didn't check each converted movie as I finished them, I'm not sure when the problem began...but I know it was fairly recent. I will be checking each batch from now on!

To try to correct the problem I've tried running several earlier versions (6.x.x.x) along side 7.0.4.0, but the sync issues remain. I've removed ALL DVDFab programs, rebooted, then installed only 6.2.1.8...yet the problem still remains. My next step is to restore my OS from a backup made last month. I'm hoping this backup is early enough to correct whatever got changed and bring my system back to happy times. I still have hundreds more movies to convert.

    More info...

I've been converting about 4-5 movies per day, and I seem to begin having problems on April 5th. Strange thing is there are a few movies converted after the 5th that are fine, while others have sync issues....and some movies converted within the same batch have issues while others don't...I don't understand that at all!

I'm not certain if it's a DVDFab issue or a XP SP3 issue. I don't see any MS updates installed around that date, and I don't recall when I updated the DVDFab software, but I do know that I've been pretty religious about updating it when they come out. I still haven't restored from last month's backup yet, but I'll keep you all posted on what I find.

Are u sure your source is ok ? I had a problem with one movie, going out of sync in the middle, i found the "place" and finding the same in the source saw there was an error for a few frames.

I can't check all my original sources since I no longer have most of them, but the ones I did check were good.
