DVD Ripper v- 7.0.4.0: slows down to 0 fps

On some DVD's (so far: Dancer in the Dark, The Mission) DVD to mkv doesnt work. The fps slows down to ~ 0 fps within the first minutes of encoding and the encoding doesnt progress at all - the time just goes.

I tried making mp4 and wmv files as well but no luck.

    What can I do?

For a start, download from links in this forum and try the latest version.

Are you using the procedures outlined in my "Best Practice: DVD to Mobile" thread (Link below in my signature)

I tried the latest (official NON-beta) release today... but no luck. I did my best to follow your best practice as well. Most of it was already set correct... because it makes good sense ;-) But still no luck.

      Has anybody tried something similar?

Is the source ripping fine to HDD?

And can you play with VLC from the HDD?

Also, when playing it with VLC, obtain the Media Information and post that here. It may be some funny encoding of the original(s) causing the problem.

what are your A/V settings?this happens to me when i try to use CUDA for decoding/encoding....
set everything to software and you´ll be fine.
(the speed increase of using cuda is not as nice as it could be....btw, the implementation in fab isnt good so far...)

It happened again this night. On the 3rd dvd out of 10 it got stuck and did nothing for 10 hours until I realized that it got stuck. So 10 hours of potential encoding time lost :-(

This time it was on "Elizabeth". I tried that one (the files on the hard drive) in VLC and it played back nice.

              Here's the mediainfo from VLC:

              Code:
              Stream 0
              Type: Subtitles
              Codec: spu
              Language: Danish

              Stream 1
              Type: Video
              Codec: mpgv
              Resolution: 720x576
              Screen resolution: 725x576
              Frame rate: 25
              Stream 2
              Type: Sound
              Codec: a52
              Channels: 3F2R/LFE
              Sample rate: 48000 Hz
              Bitrate: 448 kb/s

              Stream 3
              Type: Subtitles
              Codec: spu
DVDFab is running a lot of encoding right now, so I'm not gonna disturb it to check my A/V settings, but as I recall I checked that it was running all software. Will check up on that again when its done.

Checked it and even though I set everything to "software" under A/V the framerate is still ~0 fps.

I have experienced the same result using File to Mobile. Out of 6 VOB files the conversion stopped at VTS_01_03.vob. I am using version 7.07.0. The time elapsed is still counting up but the FPS os at 0 and 0% complete. I noticed it started out at 16 FPS and slowly reduced to 0 FPS but remained at 0% complete. This is the first time I have used this option and I have followed the "best practices".

you are not supposed to be using file to mobile for the vob files that DVDFab creates. Use the DVD to mobile and just select the yellow folder for source and then find the movie you want to convert
