OK, what player are you using and how are you trying to play the rip? If you are just playing the VOB's you will have problems with this.

What profile & settings are you using, if any?

How is the rip supplied to the player? Network, USB disk, flash card?

        More details please.

Are you saying that original DVD have defect?
Have you ever tried Media Player Classic? It's a good one, when nothing seems worked. You can get it here and it's free:

Its already ripped to HDD and the CRC is validated.

Its got that Dolby Digital Intro which doesnt seem to be reencoded...so i get a black sequence

I play the disc by starting the VIDEO_TS.IFO file

PS. I ripped all the PC stuff on the disc as well

OK. How about you try this?

                1. Rip one disk to HDD, Main Movie only, DVD9 so no compression occurs.
                2. Try my Samsung or E8HD Profile from the "New Profiles" thread. The Samsung is H264 Audiocopy & the E8HD is MKV Audiocopy.

                Post back the results.

I have struck this on rare ocassions with DVD's that I regard as poorly authored.

A word of advice... I ALWAYS use audiocopy profiles and choose the DOLBY 5.1 track. This maintains the original sound quality and will play on ALL of my players, both software and hardware. For those that are not connected to surround sound, I just downmix to stereo when playing.

This ensures that I always have the soundtrack as the director intended.

                  hahaha, sorry all.

David Lean the Director wants a min of music at the start of themovie, start of intermission and end of movie, without visuals
