    BD Ripper (3D Plus) Cuda encoded file won't play on popcorn hour

    HI:

    The new CUDA encoder for my Fermi nVida 470 card looks very promising, I have reduced encoding time from 3 hours to 1 hour ¡WOW!

    But, my files would play nicely on my PC (VlC player) but would not play on my Popcorn hour, so CUDA encoder is useless for me right now.

    Here are the media info files for a x264 encoded file and for CUDA encoded file

    x264 usin Megui DXVA HD preset (plays)

    I know popcorn hour will only play files encoded up to level 4.1, there also are differences in ReFrames and GOPs and so on..

    PLease help me tweak cuda encoding to obtain playable files for my Popcorn hour

    could you post DVDFab log files. All we need are the most recent internal and process logs. They located in document-dvdfab-log

        There appears nothing wrong in your logs and most seem to be DVD, not BR Conversions. Is this correct?

        Let's get something particularly clear here!!

        CUDA encoding as you have used it is a total misnomer.

        Let's start with the basics:-

        A. You want to play these files on the PCH.

        Please post the specs of what files that this device will play. Do not assume that we automatically know it. We have to many queries with generalistic comments that do not allow meaningful analysis.

        Post the details of the actual profile that you are using with ANY changes to ANY parameters that you are making.

        Turn off ANY CUDA/DXVA and do a test with a title that you think may be popular within the wider Fab community (eg: Avatar) and post the results here and we can go from there wit assisting you.

          Yes, my first conversions during all this year have been from DVD. I have recently started to rip Blu Rays

          My popcorn hour A110 player supports

          H.264
          * BP@L3
          * MP@L4.0
          * HP@L4.0
          * HP@L4.1

          vbv-bufsize & vbv-maxrate should be set according to level

          Max reframes 5 or below according to resolution

          There also limits for b-frames, and so on, but I have not been able to find them

          Max blu-ray level is 4.1 so there is no need to go up to level 5.

          I'll try the avatar and other BR and post results. But the popcorn hour is not a strange player, I think is quite common, uses Sigma Designs smP8634 chip

            Alexcel,
            you just answered your own question (see above).
            Please google, download and install utility MediaInfo and open your files with it. You will see all nuts and guts of your videofile. Please compare specs of your file with PCH limitations and you will find most of your answers.

              Yes, I do use mediainfo, my first post data comes from imediainfo.

              Yet my question is :

              Can I tweak DVDFAb CUDA encoding (using presets or whatever means) to ensure level 4.1 encodes? I can see no way to do so...

              Losing compatibility with my player makes my encodes unusable...
