DVD Ripper DVDFab 8.0.0.5 CUDA Encoding not working

Hello,

My configuration is

- Optiplex 755 Minitower
- Core2Duo 2.2ghz E4500 Processor
- 4 GB RAM (DDR II I guess)
- HP DVD CD/RW SATA Drive
- Nvidia 9800GT 512 MB PCIE /16x Video Card CUDA Enabled. Latest Drivers
- Windows XP SP3 32-bit

I have installed DVDFab 8.0.05 , and have tried ripping a standard DVD5 with CUDA+Software Encoder option (as it is the only CUDA option available). My setting were maximum bit rate H.264(2-pass) with audio copy in MKV output file format.

Apparently there is no performance gain or speed boost in encoding process. The process still took 7~8 hours. The final file size was ~ 2.5GB.

I have tried the same with other CUDA enabled competing products and surprisingly the encoding time is 3~4 hours or less in MKV Or MP4 output and a file size of 3~3.5GB.

So has anyone else got a more effective result and is the 8.0.0.5 version really CUDA enabled and using it for encoding as advertised. Apparently it does not seem to make any difference.

Any ideas or guidance is really appreciated as I really want to use DVDfab being one of my favorite encoders.

V8.0.0.5 has been reported by several to by unstable slow or crashing. V7 still seems to work nicely. Word is a new update should be coming soon.
I totally unistalled my V8.

Thanks for guiding. Here is my log for the past 2~3 movie encodes I have tried doing using the CUDA enabled video card I have (mentioned in the first post).

Apparently I was successful only once when I chose 1-pass H.264 encoding option in the profile. It gave me a message of CUDA encoding enabled. But since I am interested in doing 2-pass high quailty encodes, it never gives me the same message and well never enables CUDA as well based on the encoding time it takes (on bit rates of 2000~3000 KBps)

CUDA Crashes every time

When I try to run in CUDA mode on my laptop, 8.0.0.5 crashes every single time. Blu Ray and DVD. I can run in software only mode, but since it's faster to run version 7 in CUDA mode I will not use version 8 for now.

Laptop is an Asus G71. Quad core Q9000 CPU. Video card is an Nvidia GTX 260M.
